Summary

An Artistic Legacy of Countess Maria Tyzenhauz-Przezdziecka (1823–1890)

The purpose of this article is to analyze, summarize and evaluate the creative legacy of Countess Marija Tyzenhauzaitė-Pšezdzeckienė from an artistic point of view. In order to achieve the goal, the following tasks are set - to review M. Pšezdzeckienė's work in the context of the early period of her life, including mentions of works that have not survived, thus enriching Lithuanian historiography with new facts and insights, evaluating the works of the mature period. The research applies elements of social art history, formal and iconographic access. The work of the countess is analyzed in the context of the events of her life, in an attempt to see how her family and social situation determined the attitude towards creativity, the efforts to create and the result that has survived to this day, the formal and iconographic characteristics of individual works are evaluated. In the life of M. Tyzenhauzaitė-Pšezdzeckienė, art was a significant part of her everyday life.
